An International Perspective on Cotton Industry
" The majority of the world's cotton crop is in the northern hemisph-ere where the crop is either very young, or just being planted. With a full growing season ahead of us, it's difficult to predict the production outcome at this time. Even so, we don't see any shortage of supply availability to the global textile industry. Producers in our region have planted an estimated 3.45 million acres this season, close to the long-term average of 3.5 million acres. Recent rains have been encouraging to our growers, although there is still concern that some of the dryland acreage needs more."

Alginate Fibres - An Overview
“ Alginate is a natural polymer that exists widely in many species of brown seaweed. The biological function of alginates is to give strength and lexibility to the algal tissue and regulate the water content in the seaweed. It is these properties along with the ability to produce fibres from its isomers, which make Alginate the ideal wound dressing. This based study set out to establish whether branan ferulate - a polysaccharide compound available in gels could be successfully added to the fibre of an alginate dressing to provide a superior wound-care dressing.”
