EDITORIAL

As you are aware, as a part of the information enhancement activity and also as part of 2nd Anniversary Celebrations of eventful existence of TEXTILE REVIEW, it is creating a platform for debate and discussion on contemporary issues of vital importance on textiles sector, holding a two-day conference - TEXCELLENCE 2008 on October 3-4, 2008 at Ahmedabad Management Association, Near IIM-A, Ahmedabad, in association with ATIRA-AMA Centre for Textile Studies, Ahmedabad.

The event will have focus on

  • Home Textile Industry
  • Agro and Medical Textiles
  • Nonwoven and Specialty Textiles
  • Automation in Textiles
  • Achieving Excellence Through Management.
  • Raw Materials: Textiles Auxiliaries, Chemicals and Dyes
  • Modern Processing Techniques etc.

In the first technical session on Home Textiles, Shri Rajiv Merchant, CEO, Portico (India) Ltd., will give an overview of this sector as well as Shri Koushik Chakraborty, Sr. Manager, Cygnus Business Consulting and Research will share his views and happenings on Global Vs Indian Markets.

The post-lunch session on Agro and Medical Textiles will have presentations on Agricultural and Horticultural Applications of Agro Textiles by Dr. S.K. Basu, Director-MANTRA, Surat as well as Dr. Chandan Chatterjee, General Manager (Project & Technology)-iNDEXTb, Gandhinagar will address on Bottlenecks and Remedies for Growth of Agrotextiles in India. Shri Dinesh Patel, Director, JOGUSU International Pvt. Ltd., will also make presentation.

First day, last session on Nonwovens and Specialty Textiles will have presentation on Industrial Textiles by Smt. Shashi Singh, Jt. Textiles Commissioner, Textile Committee, Govt. of India. Dr. Seshadri Ramkukar from Nonwoven & Advanced Materials Laboratory, Texas Tech University, USA will share his experience and expertise on Opportunities and Potentials of Value Added Nonwovens. Beside them speakers like Prof. P.B. Jhala and Shri Mohan Kavrie will also present their paper.

Second day, morning session will have focus on Automation in Textiles where Shri S. Jade, Head-Design and Shri Madhusudan Wadavi of Kirloskar Toyoda Textile Machinery Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore will make presentation on Automation in Ring Spinning Machines. Dr. Rajeev Sharma from Foundation for MSME Clusters, New Delhi will present a Case Study. Besides them, Shri Harish Chatterjee, Works Director, Raymond Ltd. will share his experience. Shri Kedar Deshpande, Sr. Manager-Marketing of HRS Process Systems will present the role of Corrugated Tube Heat Exchangers in saving energy and improving efficiency in textile units.

The fifth session is on the theme Achieving Excellence through Management and will be chaired by Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar. Shri Rajiv Ranjan will address the participants on Effective Cost Management : The Key to the Growth of Textiles Sector. Shri B.P. Jain will make a presentation on Water Management in Textile Industry : Technical and Economic Aspects.

The last session is on Processing will have presentations on Textile Processing : Techniques to Improve Competitiveness by Shri Navneet Krishnan of ATE Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai and Shri Ashit Doshi, Managing Director of Doshion Ltd. will make presentation on Waste Water Treatment in Textile Processing as well as Shri Sidhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, The Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council will address on World Trade in Textile and Clothing : Absence of Innovative Strategy.

Beside these many eminent speakers will also share their expertise. We look forward to your august presence during TEXCELLENCE 2008 – the 2nd Anniversary Celebrations of TEXTILE REVIEW.
