Indians whether they are rich or middle class love to keep their home decorative. Due to the globalization and cut throat competition, markets flooded with rationally and competitively priced home textile products making it accessible to all strata of society.

The sustained economic progress of the country in the last decade experienced a boom in real estate, especially in housing sector, and the awakening of the stock markets supported by present rate of interest and loan availability will also lead to a further demand for homes and home textile products in the country. All put together, India is bound to witness accelerated demand for home textiles. Keeping all these developments in mind, foreign players in this sector have already eyed Indian market as a future business destination and started production and marketing their brands in the country. These developments compelled major Indian players to diversify into home textiles and at times through strategic acquisition of foreign brands and also resorting to joint ventures for ensuring their desired share in the home textile market.

Keeping the recent global economic scenario/developments in abeyance, since the population is an ever increasing universal phenomenon, increased demand for home and home textile products will continue in the years to come, as every house owner aims to give finer ambience and beauty to his house through fashionable furnishings.

Indian textile exporters have already witnessed and experienced the demand and quality of the international markets. Eying the international market, Indian textiles firms have moved up the value chain by foraying into the high-margin branded garments and home textile markets in the US and the EU by implementing cost effective production and branding initiatives.

Since home textile offers an unlimited growth opportunity in domestic as well as international markets, and to face the competition in the market, it is essential to focus on innovation, styling and pricing of products and efficient supply chain management.

In order to maintain a better share in both national and international home textiles markets, Indian firms are to incorporate the latest fashion trends and contemporary styles in their products so that customers can never frustrate and run out of choice. For this, it needs more innovative products.

In light of the positive sign of economic development in the international arena, let us hope for the same zeal and passion for goods in the global markets leading our firms to a renovated, healthy and progressive business atmosphere!
